Jens Otto Lunde Jørgensen is qualified in medicine at Aarhus University in 1984 and defended his Doctoral thesis in 1992. He obtained his Consultancy in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at Aarhus University Hospital in 1996. Since 2007. he has been Professor at Aarhus University. and since 2011. he has been Centre Chair.
He has done research mainly in the area of growth hormone. substrate metabolism and pituitary endocrinology since 1984. This includes 500 publications. > 12.000 citations and an H-index of 69.
He is a member of the Danish Endocrine Society (including 4 years in the council). The Pituitary Society. The Endocrine Society. and the European Neuroendocrine Association (member of Council). He is the founding member and current treasurer of the Growth Hormone Research Society (GRS). Since 2017. he was appointed clinical Focus Area lead for the ESE Pituitary and Neuroendocrinology Focus Area.
He has been member of POC of ENEA (1998). member of the Annual Meeting Steering Committee of Endocrine Society (2006-2008). the POC of the 9th ECE. Budapest 2007. International Society of Endocrinology (2008). POC for the ENEA 2012 (chair). POC member of GRS and IGF Congress (2014) and present chair of POC for GRS and IGF Congress 2018. and member of POC for ECE 2018.
He was a member of The Danish Council for Independent Research | Medical Sciences (2009-2015). and current member of the Novo Nordisk Foundation (vice-chair of Clinical and Translational Research Committee). and Aarhus University Research Foundation.
He is co-editor of GH and IGF research. former member of the Editorial Board of European Journal of Endocrinology. and current member of the boards of Endocrine and Pituitary.
